UGA museum to feature exhibition on abstract films

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - The art museum at the University of Georgia is set to host an exhibition on early abstract films.

Titled "L'objet en movement: Early Abstract Film," is scheduled to run from Oct. 12 through Jan. 5 at the Georgia Museum of Art.

The exhibition complements another called "Cercle et Carré and the International Spirit of Abstract Art," which is features an international artistic group based in Paris in 1929 and 1930.

The film exhibition includes abstract films from the 1920s that were discussed by essayists in the third issue of the journal of Cercle et Carré.

Films include Viking Eggeling's "Symphonie diagonale" (1924), Fernand Léger's "Le Ballet mécanique" (1924) and Man Ray's "Emak-Bakia" (1926).
