CLARKSTON, Mich. (WJBK) -

A 43-year-old Independence Township man faces several charges in the attempted burglary of a home owned by Kid Rock.

Brian Keith was arraigned by video Tuesday in 52nd District Court in Clarkston on felony charges of attempted home invasion and malicious destruction property.

Keith asked for a court-appointed attorney. He's being held after bond was set at $75,000.

Police said security cameras show Keith's white van ramming the gate of Kid Rock's Clarkston property Wednesday afternoon and trying to break into the house. He failed to get in.

"There was over $29,500 in damage to the gate, the house and the barn," explained Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe. "He actually backed into the barn with his van also when he fled."

McCabe said two tips led to Keith's arrest Saturday morning at his Independence Township home.

McCabe also said the van used to smash into the gate was recovered.

Kid Rock offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the man's arrest.

"Thank God I was not on the property at the time of this attempted break in," Kid Rock wrote in a social media post. "I am an avid hunter and marksman, and I will not hesitate to shoot anyone who has myself or family in fear for our lives.

"I take the invasion of my personal space very seriously regardless of who you are."

Keith is a father of seven with 14 prior convictions.
