DETROIT (WJBK) -- New details emerge in the lawsuit over Detroit's election inspectors filed by union activist Robert Davis and city clerk candidate D. Etta Wilcoxon. Davis claims the appointments are bogus, and says it is all part of a conspiracy to get a certain candidate elected.

"It's my belief that you have a group of individuals including Director of Elections Daniel Baxter and quite possibly even the City Clerk herself, that's part of this crew trying to assist Mr. Duggan in stealing the election," Davis told Fox 2 Saturday. The lawsuit also alleges there aren't enough elections inspectors for Tuesday's primary. "There needs to be a minimum of three election inspectors per precinct, that has not happened," said Davis. The team of three inspectors must also include one democrat and one republican according to Davis. Additionally, the Clerk's office must have certified applications on file for every single inspector. Davis says that hasn't been taken care of either, "There are no applications as far as I have seen or anyone else has seen that the city clerk has on file pertaining to the qualifications of each of the election inspectors."

When Fox 2 first asked City Clerk Janice Winfrey about the lawsuit Friday, she said the issue with the elections inspectors isn't a big deal. Fox 2 did reach out to Baxter and Winfey for comment Saturday, but so far those calls have not been returned. A judge will weigh in on the matter Monday, August 5th. Detroit's primary election is set for Tuesday August 6th.
