Body pulled from river remains unidentified

The body that was pulled from the Chicago River in the Streeterville area Thursday morning remained unidentified, with no cause of death given, Friday.

About 10:45 a.m. Thursday, police and fire department crews responded to the 400 block of East Wacker Drive and found a body in the Chicago River, according to Chicago Police and Fire Media Affairs.

The person, an unidentified male, was dead in the water and police Marine Unit officers recovered the body, police said.

The body remained unidentified Friday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday but the results were pending identification of the body, the medical examiner's office said.
