CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police have a person of interest in custody after Tina Giger and her eleven-year-old daughter Chrissy were found stabbed to death Tuesday in their Clinton Township apartment.

Tina's brother-in-law is in shock.

"Tina was a loving mother. They were always together. Took good care of her daughter, and it's a tragedy," said Robert Feirstein.

Before learning the horrific details, Feirstein said they were planning a trip to a water park, but he had not heard from Tina in days, which was unlike her.

"Tuesday I called her, and it went right into voicemail again, so I said there's something. She can't be charging her phone that long," he said.

Neighbors said with no forced entry, they are afraid it is someone they know who may still be out there.

"We moved from ... the city to get away from stuff like this, and now I don't even feel safe [anymore], not even for my kids," said Glenda Delong.

As the question of why swirls inside the Parkway Village apartment complex, Feirstein had a very clear message to whoever is responsible.

"May God have mercy on your soul, and one day you're going to have to answer to God," he said.

Police described the person of interest as a man who lives nearby.

Meanwhile, autopsies are being conducted, and the family is working on funeral arrangements.
