DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (WJBK) -

Dearborn Heights Police said Chad Field was likely leaving a market when a hit-and-run driver struck him on Telegraph. They are now one step closer to finding that driver.

Bleeding from his side and suffering from a head injury, the victim laid unconscious in the roadway with little chance of ever recovering.

"Just fantastic, big hearted, great guy, would do anything for anyone," said sister Alicia Field. "It's the worst thing ever."

"Chad's not going to survive this, and after talking with the police, they've made it clear to us that they are pursuing this as a fatality situation," said brother Brad Field.

Chad's siblings are now planning to remove him from life support. They want the driver to come clean.

"Do the right thing in that you need to come forward, and you need to stand up for what you did," his sister said.

Sgt. Al Nason with Dearborn Heights Police said while they do not have the driver's description, they do know what he or she was driving.

"We know for sure now that we are looking for a Ford Windstar, a 1998 to 2001. The parts that were left at the scene we took to Ford Motor Company this morning, and they ID'ed it as a Windstar van," Nason said.

Police are now on the lookout for a silver or gray Windstar missing a side mirror. They said the driver may have been leaving an event in Taylor.

That driver will likely face stiff charges for Friday's hit-and-run that could lead to a lengthy prison sentence.

Meantime, the victim's family is putting up reward money for information leading to an arrest.

"We're just begging you to please speak out to help us," his sister said.
