Mixed reviews on Chicago's chilly temps

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

#Tasteoffall is a trending topic on Twitter.

The social media site was flooded with reaction as temperatures dropped to the mid to low 60's. Arianna Rausch tweeted, "Lovin' this weather," but not everyone was impressed with the October-esque breeze in July.

"My Chicago fleece, I can't wear this in Green Bay," said Jodi Sullivan.

Sullivan bought a hot pink fleece to keep warm.

"It does feel like the fall, it's football weather," said Sullivan.

The National Weather Service says the last time it was this cool on July 27th was in 1981 - it was 69 degrees. Saturday set a new record at 65 degrees.

"There was that huge heat wave and it was so nice, we got a cute tan and now we're freezing, what is going on, this ain't Alaska, this ain't Alaska," said Daniel Fani, a Chicagoan.

Even so the Crown Fountain in Millennium Park was still able to attract plenty of visitors, young and old, for fun without sun but plenty of splashes in the water.

At Hamilton Park, people traded in sundresses for sweaters at the Resident Association of Englewood's So Fresh Saturdays series showcasing local artists and at Lorraine Dixon Park in Avalon, the Taste of WVON didn't miss a beat despite the cooler than norm temps.

"Last year it was so hot, everybody was sweating so I think it's actually better that it's cooler because it's not as hot… We still consider today to be perfect because as long as it's not raining, it's a great day," said Deanna Burrell, Director of Client Engagement at WVON.
