Miracle League celebrates 10 years of fulfilling baseball dreams

Posted: Updated:
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

The thrill of playing, the cheers from the stands, hearing their names announced. That's what many young baseball players look forward to, and it's also what makes the Miracle League of Michigan an oasis from everyday battles.

It isn't your usual baseball league. It provides children with mental and/or physical challenges an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league.

And as photojournalists Doug Tracey and Chris Sherban show us, for those involved, it's an experience they'll never forget.

The league will host its 10th anniversary celebration on Saturday, July 27 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Southfield Pavilion. For more information on how you can take part, call 248-506-4604 or log on to www.michiganmiracle.org.
