OAK PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -

Video shows the moment when a multi-vehicle fire turned into an explosion along the westbound lanes of I-696 in Oakland County Wednesday.

The footage posted on YouTube by a FOX 2 viewer shows thick black smoke pouring from below the I-696 overpass at Coolidge Highway followed by a blast that rocks the user's camera back and forth.

Michigan State Police said a car being towed somehow ignited. The flames then spread to the tow truck.

The freeway was closed for several hours during the cleanup and investigation.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported and no damage was caused to the overpass.
