INKSTER, Mich. (WJBK) -

Hours after a 72-year-old man was murdered at an Inkster apartment complex, neighbors still cannot believe a crime like that actually happened.

Police have been working around the clock to track down the suspect, but so far no luck.

Sources said the victim, Mohammed Aljnaili, was strangled at the Cherry Hill Manor Apartments. His own daughter discovered him dead around 9 p.m. Thursday.

It is believed he was killed by her ex-boyfriend, who we were told had been stalking and even threatening her.

"This has been an ongoing problem for a few months now, and it's an on again, off again relationship," said Det. Anthony Delgreco. "She broke it off, and he didn't like that."

Police are not releasing the suspect's name right now, but they hope someone will recognize his face.

"Don't approach him. Don't know how stable he is right now, what he may do," Delgreco said.

Meanwhile, those who live near the murder scene plan to push for more protection. The twelfth murder in Inkster this year was just too close to home.

"I feel as though we need security out here," said Angela Howard, who lives in the apartment complex.

Police believe the suspect may be driving a black 2003 BMW. If you have seen that vehicle or observed something suspicious at the apartment complex around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, you are asked to give police a call.
