STONE PARK, Ill. (FOX 32 News) -

Police thought there was something suspicious about a pickup driving through the western suburbs Tuesday morning, and when they pulled it over they found out what it was -- 100 kilograms of cocaine in the truck bed.

An Illinois State Police major narcotics interdiction detail, including troopers and police officers from Elmhurst and Northlake, was conducting a saturation patrol of areas of known criminal and drug activity in western Cook County on Tuesday when they were notified of the suspicious truck, a statement from Illinois State Police said.

At 11:38 a.m., officers received information about a maroon 2005 Toyota Tacoma en route to the Chicago area, the statement said. After watching the truck, officers saw a traffic violation and pulled it over on the 3200 block of West North Avenue in Stone Park.

An Elmhurst canine was then called to the scene and the dog alerted positive to narcotics, the statement said. Officers then found about 100 kilos of cocaine in two rubber tubs in the truck bed, and also found about $15,000 in cash inside the vehicle.

The male driver was arrested and was being questioned at the Northlake Police Department. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday morning.
