DeKalb residents spend Sunday without water

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -

A DeKalb County road was flooded on Sunday, but it wasn't due to the recent rains.

The river of water was supposed to be ending up in sinks, showers and toilets, but for about 1,500 residents along Stone Mountain Lithonia Road near Rockbridge Road, it was ending up in the roadway.

Residents say they have been without power since the very early morning hours on Sunday. Many woke for morning services to find they didn't have water to get ready.

Officials say someone struck a fire hydrant that caused water main leak. It took them all day Sunday to figure out how to attack and cap the leak, but warned that nearly 2,500 households could be without water on Monday morning.
