Mich. State Police rescue injured peregrine falcon in Detroit

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

Michigan State Police say troopers rescued an injured peregrine falcon in downtown Detroit this week.

Lt. Michael Shaw says troopers were alerted Sunday to the raptor hobbling around the Cadillac Place Building sidewalk.

Shaw says troopers were able to capture the un-banded female falcon and turn it over to a bird sanctuary in Rochester, Mich.

Shaw says the falcon is expected to fully recover.

Peregrines are known to live in large cities and make use of tall buildings that provide suitable ledges for nesting.
