Let It Rip: Bloomfield Hills Schools prayer policy & Detroit union contracts

Posted: Updated:

Prayers on the high school football field. The Bloomfield Hills school district's superintendent sets the record straight.

"We are not banning student prayer," Robert Glass said Tuesday.

However, the district says coaches can't be involved in those prayers.

Joining us on our panel to discuss were Superintendent Glass, Dan Korobkin with the ACLU of Michigan and conservative activist Stacy Swimp.

Plus, the contracts for several unions representing Detroit workers have expired, and their renewal seems doubtful. Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr says it is part of his plan to get the city out of debt, but critics say it is nothing more than union busting. And what about a select group of city retirees collecting an enormous amount of money from pensions?

Our panel on these topics included AFSCME Local 25 President Al Garrett and political consultants Karen Dumas and Steve Hood.

Charlie Langton also took "Let It Rip" on the road and asked people whether they feel having red light cameras in Michigan would be a good idea.
