CHAMBLEE, Ga. -

Two Chamblee police officers are credited for helping save a newborn baby.

A couple called 911 after unexpectedly giving early birth to a baby girl on Sunday night. They thought the child might be dead because she wasn't breathing, so the wrapped her in a blanket and waited for help to get there.

Officers Beth Frye and Atlas Hardy arrived and unwrapped the baby. Officer Frye cleared the baby's airway and administered a "kick start" to her bottom.

"I put the baby in my arms and held her down and cleaned the mucus out of her and just kind of patted her and she started crying, and I was like, ‘Just keep crying for me,'" said Frye.

Life and a lot of crying followed, from the parents and baby Sharlyn.

"After seeing her and being healthy, you know, and knowing that everything is OK, it's just the best feeling that you could ever have," said Frye.
