CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A mother and her two-year-old son were wounded during a drive-by shooting in the West Englewood neighborhood Sunday night.

The 26-year-old woman and the boy were sitting in a parked van in the 1700 block of West 73rd when they were struck by bullets fired from a passing, dark-colored van about 6 p.m., police said.

The woman was shot in the right wrist. The 2-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. Both are listed in "stable" condition, police said.

The two were initially taken to Holy Cross Hospital, but later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Area South detectives are investigating. Police have not determined a motive for the shooting.
