Man bitten by K9 officer after refusing to surrender

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -

The man police say struck a teenage girl and stole her iPhone was recovering in a jail cell Sunday after K9 officer took him down.

A spokesperson for the Alpharetta Police Department tells FOX 5 News that Christopher Deven Daye, 18, of Riverdale, was arrested on Robbery by Intimidation or Force and Obstruction charges after they say he robbed that teenage girl in the crosswalk on North Point Parkway at North Point Court on Saturday.

She was able to get away and call police while Daye ran into the nearby woods. Police set up a perimeter and brought a K9 officer to help find him.

They were able to catch up with Daye in the woods. The K9 officer was sent in to bring him down when he failed to comply with their demand to show his hands.

He suffered a dog bite. He was treated at the hospital and later released.

Police say Daye was reported as a missing person in Ohio last September.

The victim was not seriously injured.
