PEACHTREE CORNERS, Ga. -

Neighbors are crediting a vigilant homeowner for making sure suspicious activity doesn't go unnoticed in a Peachtree Corners community.

"My neighbor calls up and tells me there's a couple of guys under my back deck," said Chris Allen.

With that call Monday morning, Allen grabbed his gun and went to check it out.

"I came around the corner saw the two gentlemen up there under my deck, they didn't quite see me," Allen said.  "I pulled my holster off and explained to them that they were at the wrong property and that they needed to leave."

Chris says the men told him they were waiting on someone to pick them up, but he didn't buy it. They ran off. After checking his home, Chris saw the young men return.

"As I was coming down, they started to walk down the street here again, and I told them again that they needed to leave and they kind of went into a little jog," Allen said.

Chris works for a safety preparedness company.  He says awareness is important and ever since a nearby burglary a few months ago, he and his neighbors have been very aware of their surroundings.

The same day Allen had his run-in, Gwinnett police responded to a burglary in the next subdivision. Electronics and money were taken.  Not long after that police stopped a suspicious vehicle just up the street.  Inside, they found stolen TVs. They arrested the driver.

Police haven't been able to connect that vehicle to the burglary or the suspicious men at Chris Allen's home, but neighbors credit Allen for his vigilance.

"As far as me and my family are concerned, Chris is a real hero, he had the courage to confront the two suspicious people that were in the neighborhood, and as a direct result of him taking action, they left the neighborhood," said Jay Revis.

Allen says it's important to stay in touch with your neighbors and keep an eye out for anything suspicious.
