DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. -

A $10,000 reward is now being offered for information on the murder of the father of a Douglas County deputy.  Local businessman Jerry Wheeler, 66, was found stabbed to death in his home last Wednesday afternoon.

Wheeler was a grandfather, father, husband and the owner of Lee Road Auto Service.  His wife was out of town at the time he was killed.  His son, Deputy Michael Wheeler, found his father's body at his parents' home on Chattahoochee Drive.  He stopped by to check on his father after he didn't come to work.

Chief Deputy Stan Copeland says Wheeler was stabbed repeatedly, and authorities are still trying to find the suspect and determine the motive.  According to Copeland, a couple of pieces of evidence were recovered from the crime scene, with the help of specially-trained canines.  They're also trying to console Wheeler's son.

A friend and business partner of Wheeler tells FOX 5's Darryl Carver he is still trying to comprehend his death.  Mike Mullins says Wheeler didn't know a stranger, and he could talk to anyone about anything.   He says his friend, golf buddy and business partner was not only respected, but also loved by the customers of his repair shop.

"I don't know that he had any enemies," Mullins said.  "That's what's so hard to try to fathom what's happened.  He was not the kind of person to make somebody mad enough to do this to him."

Mullins says customers are still coming into the shop asking about Wheeler.  He says he's praying the killer will be found.

Anyone with information on Wheeler's death is asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
