Cary police search for woman missing since 1999

CARY, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police in Cary searched Monday for a woman who was last seen 14 years ago in the northwest suburb.

On May 20, 1999, Wendy Kimura took a train to Fox River Grove to spend the night with a friend who lived in the 200 block of Northwest Highway in Cary, according to Cary police.

Kimura, 28, originally from Cary, was last seen the next day walking along U.S. Route 14 in Cary, police said.

She is described as Asian, 4-feet-11, 100 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, police said. Kimura was seen wearing a St. Edward's school jacket with red trim and the word "April" stitched in red lettering on the front.

Kimura suffered from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, police said.

On Monday, Cary police searched the waterways areas where she was last seen, police said. Officers search land in the area on Saturday.
