HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -

Members of the Highland Park Police Special Response Team and the Wayne County Sheriff's Department removed bags of evidence, including paperwork and sex toys, on Thursday from the World Wide News, a longtime adult bookstore on Woodward Avenue that drew quite a crowd every day.

"The place opens at eight o'clock, and it's packed by 8:30 with nothing but men," said Ali Morgan. "The majority of them were like businessmen, ties, suits, company vehicles."

Morgan said he worked security there over the last two years and saw all kinds of wild things, but claimed he did not know anything illegal was taking place until the raid.

"These tokens, you get $3 worth of these, and then you can go in a booth, your own individual booth," Morgan explained. "Once the customers get in the back, we have no idea what they're doing back there, but kind of it's like implied."

Morgan believes the illegal sex was between customers, but police said their six month investigation found prostitution was also taking place.

Two employees, a man and a woman, were taken in for questioning, but so far there have been no arrests.

Police said it is a well kept secret who actually owns the business, and they are working to figure that out. We have learned the building is owned by a Chicago-based company called Capital News Agency. When we called the Chicago office, no one wanted to comment.

During our interview, we saw men, who appeared to be customers, driving by to see if the shop was closed. Condemned signs now hang on the building, which is located less than a block from a high school, a Boys and Girls Club and several churches.

Police said complaints from neighbors prompted the investigation, and the illegal activity may have been taking place for as long as ten years.
