The Village of Westmont, IL (pop. 24,556) is accepting applications for the position of Building and Code Official.
This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity for building and zoning code enforcement work, and the performance of building inspections, in a built-out community experiencing significant redevelopment and concern for maintaining the quality of existing housing stock.
The individual will work under the direction of the Community Development Director and will assume primary responsibility for enforcement of the Village Code of Ordinances; largely property maintenance and nuisance issues, building inspections, and issuance of building and demolition permits. The Building and Code Official will observe the 2003 International Building Code, and 2003 International property Maintenance Code with local amendments.
Applicants must possess six to ten years experience in code enforcement and building inspections or the construction industry. Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong computer skills required. The ability to work with the public to obtain compliance with municipal regulations is necessary. The Building and Code Official may be required to issue tickets to violators and appear in court to testify against offending parties.
Candidates with inspection certifications are preferred. Residency requirement is DuPage County or a county contiguous to DuPage County.
Starting Salary $19.63-$20.61/Hr., DOQ.
