Bill Daley to decide on governor run in next week

Posted: Updated:

The debacle in the Illinois State Capitol has former White House Chief of Staff William Daley preparing his own campaign for governor, perhaps to launch as soon as next week.

Daley say he was shocked the leadership of the state could not come together and solve the state's fiscal problems, marriage equality, or other issue.

He went to say Illinois has the highest unemployment in the Midwest.  Plus he says there is more income inequality growing in this state than just about any state in the country.

As a result, he says businesses are very anxious about the future of this state and questioning whether to invest here.

Daley praised Governor Pat Quinn as an honest, well-intentioned public servant, but claimed Quinn has not provided strong leadership on a series of critical issues.

However at a news conference earlier today, Quinn says it's time for the legislature to act and that he cannot do it by himself.

He says state legislators have got to get going and listen to what the economy is saying, and that means enacting public pension reform to improve our job climate.
