PALATINE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

An online bomb threat that turned out to be unfounded brought police to northwest suburban Palatine High School during the school's graduation ceremony Sunday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to the school at about 2:46 p.m. in response to a bomb threat posted as a comment on a website, according to Palatine Police Sgt. Larry Canada.

Officers and school officials searched the building and found no suspicious packages or any other signs of a bomb, and "graduation went on without incident," Canada said.

No evacuation was conducted, although Canada said officers remained behind to assist with traffic control after the graduation ceremony.

Canada said details about which website contained the threat were not immediately available.

No further information was available Sunday afternoon as police investigated.
