Chicago's Most Wanted: Brown Bag Bandit

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The FBI is calling this individual the Brown Bag Bandit because in all his robberies he entered banks and handed the tellers notes written on brown lunch bags. Then when the bank employees give him the money he puts the cash in the same brown bag and walks out of the bank.

FBI agents say the Brown Bag Bandit's crime spree started June 6th, 2012 when he held up the North Community Bank branch at 2758 West Belmont. Less than a month later he struck again, this time robbing the North Community Bank branch at 1600 West North Avenue. The third and last robbery he is believed to have committed was on November 9th, 2012. Once again his bank of choice was a branch of the North Community bank -- this time at 1401 West Belmont.

The bandit's M.O. has been similar in each case. He enters the bank and hands the teller a note on the brown bag, announcing the robbery and demanding cash. He has implied that he has a weapon, but he has never shown one.

All three banks are on the near north side of the city so it's possible the bank robber lives in that general area but FBI agents are not limiting their search to that area.

There is a reward for information that helps agents identify and apprehend this individual.

Here is the FBI's description of the Brown Bag Bandit:

--Hispanic male in his 40's

--5'5'' to 5'7'' with a medium build

--Has had long brown hair

--Tattoo on his left inner forearm and another tattoo wrapped around his right wrist

The Brown Bag Bandit is considered a danger to the community. If you see him you're asked to call police.
