3-D Food Printer Aims Toward Success

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Could there be a new solution to world hunger? A new 3-D food printer is aiming to be just that.

This project is motivated by the belief that food is going to be even more expensive in the near future.

Powder forms of proteins, carbs, and sugars will be used in order for the printer to create edible food. A pizza printer will serve as one of the fist experiments. The tomato paste is powder which is then mixed with water and oil.

But there may be some unique ingredients used, including alternative food sources like algae, duckweed, and insects.

Experts believe this form of food could last for up to 30 years.
