Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are warning businesses in the River North area of a spate of burglaries, mainly at night, over the past couple weeks, including one night this week when businesses were targeted.

Police say the burglar or burglars make their way into a retail or business location by forcing open an outside door, then using a blunt instrument to break the glass on an inside entrance door.

Burglaries have occurred in the:

— 400 block of North Wells between 5:15 p.m. May 4 and 9 a.m. May 6;

— 0-100 block of East Superior between 6 p.m. May 8 and 10:40 a.m. May 9;

— 300 block of West Hubbard between 3:30 p.m. May 10 and 9 a.m. May 13; and

— four in the 400 block of North Wells between 10 p.m. May 13 and 6:30 a.m. May 14.

Police have no description of the burglars other than there may be two of them and they may have been wearing hooded sweatshirts, baseball caps and gym shoes.

Anyone with any information should call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8384.
