Chicago Inspector General audits red light camera efficiency

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Do red light cameras make Chicago residents safer? A brand new audit says "no."

DNAinfo.com reports on new findings from a Chicago Inspector General's Office study.

The audit found there was little evidence that the red light program was being run to the general public's best benefit. They also couldn't figure out why cameras were placed where they were.

The program generates tens of millions of dollars for the city.
