Elderly man with dementia missing from West Town

UPDATE: Joel Maxime, 77, was located safely and reunited with his family, police said Sunday night.

An elderly man with dementia went missing early Sunday from his West Town neighborhood on the North Side.

Joel Maxime, 77, was last seen at 4 a.m. at his home in the 1900 block of West Superior Street, according to a community alert from Area Central detectives.

He suffers from dementia and likes to ride CTA buses, the alert said. He may be riding a bus to O'Hare International Airport.

Maxime is described as black with a medium complexion, 5-feet-6, 212 pounds with brown eyes and gray hair, the alert said.

He was last seen possibly wearing cream-colored jacket and gray slacks, the alert said.
