Police: Man pulled from river on Near North Side

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man died Saturday morning after he was pulled from the Chicago River on the Near North Side, police said.

The man was pulled from river in the 1100 block of West North Avenue about 5 a.m., police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

Authorities conducted a search and found the man after a witness saw a person jump into the water, Mirabelli said.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

Area Central detectives are conducting a death investigation.
