Water rescue teams train at Six Flags

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Firefighters who are part of area Swift Water Rescue teams took part in some intensive training at Six Flags on Wednesday.

They used the park's Thunder River to simulate real-life emergencies.

Organizers say these types of rescues in turbulent waters can be the most hazardous for both rescuers and victims.

Firefighters honed their skills to swim across strong currents, handle obstacles in the water, and learn self-rescue and survival methods.
