CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Three people were injured in a crash Tuesday afternoon in northwest suburban Crystal Lake.

The crash happened about 12:50 p.m. when a GMC Terrain pulled out of a private drive onto North Virginia Street near West Terra Cotta Avenue and hit an eastbound GMC Denali and a westbound Ford Freestyle, according to a release from Crystal Lake police.

All three drivers were taken to Centegra Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock with non-life-threatening injuries, the release said. The three vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene.

All three drivers were cited for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and the driver of the Terrain was cited for failure to yield from a private drive.

Traffic in the area was redirected for about 25 minutes as crews investigated the crash.
