CALUMET CITY, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A south suburban middle school was evacuated Tuesday morning as firefighters put out a small blaze.

Firefighters responded just before 10 a.m. to a fire in an office of Dirksen Middle School at 1650 Pulaski Rd. in Calumet City, according to Calumet City Fire Chief William Galgan.

The school was evacuated after the fire alarm went off and all students were accounted for, he said. No one was injured.

The fire was extinguished in five minutes but it took about an hour to clear all the smoke out of the building, Galgan said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
