CHESTER, Pa. -

Chester's mayor recently announced the hire of 19-new officers. But that didn't stop a series of deadly shootings this weekend.

Forty-year-old Robert Morris' sister shared a phone call early Saturday  morning when a cousin tried to save his life.

"She called her cousins on the phone and said Rob is on the phone. I think he's getting robbed."

But that help came to late.

Now, his four children, the youngest family says is a year old, will have to grow up without their father after Morris was gunned down outside his home on the 900 block of Clover Lane for the $75 in his pocket.

"Please help me bring these people to justice so it can be over. My kids play on this block I live on this block," said his sister Janene Shipley.

Morris' death is just one in a violent,  deadly weekend in Chester.

Family members at Crozer-Chester Medical Center let out cries of grief after a deadly shooting Saturday evening on the 1100 block of Upland.

Residents say kids were playing nearby.

"It sounded like 10 of them, 12 of them," said Lucy Nieves. "Boom! Boom! Boom!"

Bullet casings littered the street where police say 17-year-old Jesse Darren Burton died after a gunshot to the head.

Three other men were wounded.

Police say 40-year-old Nelson Carson was an innocent victim of the violence.

Family members say  he's a father of two who'd just come home from work. He's in intensive care with multiple gunshots to the  back and chest.

"People need to speak up if you know what's going on," said his exasperated mother.

Carson's son is one of the many innocent victims of recent gun violence in Chester.

Less than two weeks ago, 82-year-old Edith Hardy was critically injured when a stray bullet tore through her living room window--hitting her in the neck.

Police say the  gunman in Hardy's shooting has been captured. The gunmen from this weekend's crimes are still on the run.

Police say for now the crimes don't appear to be linked.

Right now, they're looking for at least two to three people in the Upland Street shooting that they believe took off in a burgundy Ford Escape.
