Parking meter dug up, stolen from Evanston street

EVANSTON, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A parking meter was dug up and stolen from a northwest suburban street, city officials noticed Saturday.

A city worker reported a meter missing about 1 p.m. on April 9 in the 1700 block of Oak Avenue, Evanston police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.

The meter, valued at more than $500, is believed to have been dug up and stolen some time between April 2-9, Parrott said.

No one is in custody and Evanston police are investigating.
