ATLANTA -

Walmart hosted an event to help the Atlanta Food Bank on Thursday.

Walmart partnered with General Mills to donate pallets of food and funds. It's part of their "Fighting Hunger Together" initiative, a $2 billion program to fight hunger in America.

The "Stuff the Truck" event, held at the Walmart on MLK Drive, featured country singer Thomas Rhett.

It's estimated that more than 50 million Americans live in food insecure households. In Atlanta, more than 900,000 people go hungry every day.

During the springtime, the Atlanta Food Bank sees a drop in food donations.
