Young Girl's Search for Missing Pet

Posted: Updated:

young Delaware girl is desperate to find her missing pet.  Six year old Anna Lockwood says Jackie, a black and white male cat is her best friend.

Her family say he disappeared Monday night from their Claymont, Delaware home. He was out roaming their yard which is off Philadelphia Pike, but never returned the next morning.

Jackie's been Anna's car since she was two but he's more than just a pet...Jack is therapy. Anna has Asperger's, a developmental disorder which makes it difficult for her to emotionally connect with others, except her cat.

Her mother, Jodie Lockwood, says Jack was Anna's security blanket. She says Anna would talk about her day with him, laugh with him, and that he brought her happiness like no one else can. She says he was extremely friendly. They live next to a church and are hoping someone found him, thought that he was a stray, and took him home.

Jack is black and white, has white paws and spots on his belly that form a smiley face.

The family has reached out to local shelters and have posted flyers throughout the neighborhood- with Jack's picture hoping for his return. Until then, Anna holds tight to pictures of her cat-- longing to be reunited with her best friend. Anna says she feels happy when her cats around and she really misses him.
