15-year-old girl stabbed in Woodlawn

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are searching for a man who stabbed a 15-year-old girl Tuesday in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood.

The girl was walking in the 1400 block of East 64th Street about 10:30 a.m. when the man came up from behind her and stabbed her in the leg, Area Central detectives said in a community alert.

The suspect said nothing during the attack, the alert said. He ran westbound on 64th Street and is not in police custody Tuesday evening.

The girl was listed in good condition at University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital Tuesday evening, police said.

The suspect is described as a black man about 30 years old, standing between 5-foot-8 and 6-feet with a heavy build and a dark complexion, the alert said. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
