Delco Man Plans to Donate Most of Krispy Kreme Stakeout Prize

Posted: Updated:

One Delaware County man is camping out for days, for a reason you might not expect.

If there's one thing that Dr. Timothy Folkomer has a lot of - it's time.

The retired geologist and teacher has been sitting in the Manoa Shopping Center in Havertown since Sunday morning, and he's not going anywhere until Tuesday.

Doc, as he's known, is determined to be the first customer inside the brand new Krispy Kreme donuts in Delaware County, a feat which will earn him a free dozen donuts every week for one year.

"I had so much fun the first time because I gave away most of the dozens of donuts I have won."

That's right- this isn't Doc's first time waiting for the red hot donuts sign to illuminate.

Seven years ago, the stakeout veteran cashed in most of his doughy winnings from a Springfield store opening for churches, local organizations, and the homeless shelter where he and his wife serve.

The students in his bible class will be the first to get a dozen donuts and he'll donate the rest throughout the year.

But don't get him wrong, Doc says he certainly indulges in the glazed goods every now and again, but the waiting is far from the hardest part.

"I do enjoy this and the good that I can do with it, I enjoy."

Doc has company at this point because the next 100 people behind him will receive free donuts once a month for a year.
