Bob Sirott`s One More Thing about the late night TV host switch

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

One more thing, about what's happening on late night network TV. There are a few things I still don't understand. Someone explain this to me.

Jay Leno is number one in the ratings. He's beating all the guys who are keeping their jobs, including the one NBC is most worried about: Jimmy Kimmel.

Leno's audience is now bigger than ever, even with the most important younger viewers NBC is most worried about. But they want to replace him with the younger Jimmy Fallon, who is big on social media and YouTube. Just like Conan O'Brien was. And you know what happened with Conan and "The Tonight Show."

Why would Fallon be more successful?

And why don't you ever hear anything about CBS wanting to replace David Letterman? His contract ends in 2014. He's going to be 66 on Friday. Leno is only 62. And Dave's ratings aren't as good as Leno's. Maybe Jay's next move will be into the Ed Sullivan Theatre. Although, the rumors have him going to FOX.

Like I said, I just don't get this. And don't get me started on what happened to Fred Winston.
