One hospitalized after fire outside Wheaton restaurant

One person was hospitalized after landscaping outside a restaurant in west suburban Wheaton caught fire Saturday.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at Butterfield's Restaurant at 351 Rice Lake Square at 7:15 p.m., a release from the Wheaton fire department said.

The landscaping on the northeast corner of the restaurant had caught fire but was extinguished quickly, and there was no damage to the interior of the restaurant, the release said.

One person was taken to an area hospital to be checked out, the release said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
