ATLANTA (AP) - The Georgia Department of Community Health is recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month.
Aside from asking employees to wear blue on Monday to show solidarity with victims of child abuse, department spokeswoman Pamela Keene says the agency is also asking service provider networks to show an ability to identify, assess and treat children who have been victims of child abuse or neglect.
Keene says the agency is working to move about 11,000 foster children into a care management organization, which is expected to result in better, more coordinated and consistent care.
