OAK LAWN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Oak Lawn resident Dave Purdy ran outside his house late Friday night, seconds after a car crashed into his neighbor's house at 105th Street and Georgia Lane.

He approached the black Audi coupe and immediately knew the driver had not survived the collision.

"You could tell he was deceased," Purdy said. "There was blood everywhere."

The 22-year-old male driver died at the scene from apparent injuries suffered in the crash. His identity had not been released as of Saturday afternoon.

Purdy, who lives in the 10400 block of Georgia Lane, said both of the car's passengers got out of the vehicle. One of them went to the next-door neighbor's house looking for help.

Purdy tried to help him, but the man said he was fine and asked Purdy to help the driver. The other passenger was bleeding and sat on the curb, Purdy said.

Both passengers were treated at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The crash occurred at 10:39 p.m. when the Audi, which was traveling west on 105th Street at a high rate of speed, left the road and crashed into the house on the northwest corner of 105th Street and Georgia Lane, police said.

Homeowner Wally Jafilan said he and his brother were in the living room when the crash occurred. He heard a loud noise but did not realize a car hit his house until looking out an upstairs window.

"I saw a kid running, bleeding, asking for help," Jafilan said Saturday. "He was saying, ‘Help, help, help.' "
