Evanston woman charged with DUI in fatal Skokie crash

SKOKIE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A 32-year-old woman was charged with DUI for allegedly being on drugs when she fatally struck a pedestrian Wednesday afternoon in north suburban Skokie.

A vehicle traveling south on Skokie Boulevard struck Alan Rubin as the driver attempted to turn onto Main Street in Skokie about 3:28 p.m. Wednesday, according to Skokie police.

Rubin, 57, was walking northbound in the crosswalk when he was hit, police said.

Rubin, of the 5000 block of Lee Street in Skokie, was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m. at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The driver, Larissa Lomax of the 800 block of Hartrey Avenue in Evanston, was initially charged with driving under the influence of drugs and ticketed for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, police said.
