CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

There were some big changes Wednesday at the South Side home once shared by Jesse Jackson, Jr., and his wife, Sandi. Sources say the estranged couple has now decided to live in separate cities.

Sources tell FOX 32 News it was a very emotional day for the former congressman. He's living in Chicago now, at least until he's sentenced in June. His wife, who also faces sentencing, will live in Washington with their children.

Movers took Sandi's things away this morning. Workers carried out furniture, including a mattress and box springs; and more than a dozen big cardboard containers, some with markings indicating that they held clothing and other items.

Supervising it all was former Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. After a long absence, he's much more visible on the South Side, having moved back into his home to Chicago. On Tuesday in Hyde Park, he sat Shiva with others following the funeral of Hank Schwab. The 98-year-old Holocaust survivor died last Thursday and had long been close to the Jackson Family.

Notably not in Chicago was former Alderman Sandi Jackson. Sources tell FOX 32 News it was largely her belongings that were removed from the house Wednesday. They said she will live for now in the couple's home in Washington, D.C., where their children attend school.

Sources told FOX 32 News that Jesse, Jr., continues to receive treatment for his bipolar disorder diagnosed last year. They said he's been sorting through letters and records from his time in Congress and recently cleaned out a nearby office.

A source said movers recently delivered Jesse, Jr.'s personal items from Washington. They said it's a very difficult time for the whole family.

A federal judge is scheduled to sentence Jackson in late June. He and his estranged wife pleaded guilty to felony tax fraud involving the misappropriation of $750,000 in political campaign funds.
