DETROIT (WJBK) -

A Fox 2 viewer in need got a gift she never imagined all because of another Fox 2 viewer and a team of people, who wanted to help.

"I feel truly blessed right now," said Kalisha Nelson.

We first introduced you to this victim of illegal dumping last month.  Someone piled dozens of tires in and around her dilapidated garage behind her home on the Detroit's west side.  She had already paid to have them hauled away once, but it happened again.  Disabled, on dialysis and nearly blind from diabetes, Nelson turned to Fox 2 for help.

"That's not giving a good image of Detroit.  We are not like this," she said.

Neighbor Bill Smith from Bill's Tires and Rims agreed to facilitate the removal of the tires, and, last week, Silver Lining Tire Recycling hauled them away, dozens and dozens that had been dumped illegally.

As soon as our story aired, Fox 2 viewers started to contact us wanting to help, and as soon as those tires were removed last week, it was time to take down the garage.

Robert Sherby and Ron Swan from TSP Environmental in Livonia saw our story and responded in a big way.  Workers were out early Monday morning to knock down the garage and clear out the debris.

"It just seemed like a good opportunity to help somebody out," said Sherby.

"It just seemed like the right thing to do at the right time.  We consider ourselves very fortunate to be able to lend somebody a helping hand right now, and this is a... line of work that we do on a regular basis," said Swan.

Nelson is so grateful to TSP Environmental.  Since we last saw her, she had surgery on her eyes and spent last week hospitalized with complications.  However, she is on the mend, and in a couple of months she should be able to see once again, and what a sight it is complete with a fenced in yard.

"I'm so happy about it, and when my eyesight comes back, I'll be able to see a nice, big backyard," she said.
