CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A weekend melee on the Magnificent Mile and a separate attack on a CTA Red Line train ended with 25 juveniles and three adults charged Saturday.

It all happened as Chicago flirted with spring weather for the first time this year. But police officials emphasized on Sunday that there were no reported robberies, assaults or property damage as a result of what happened on Michigan Avenue.

Seventeen arrests were made after officers arrived near Chicago and Michigan about 6 p.m. Saturday to find "a number of kids fighting amongst themselves," Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

Marquell Hicks, 18, of the 3200 block of West Diversey, and Bobby K. Rhodes, 19, of the 1100 block of North Cambridge, were each charged with one count of misdemeanor reckless conduct, police said. So were 15 additional juveniles.

Meanwhile, police said Stephanie M. Hosch, 18, of the 1300 block of North Central, and 10 juveniles attacked a group of women aboard a CTA Red Line train about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Hosch and the juveniles were each charged with battery. Two juveniles also were charged with strong-arm robbery, police said.

The victims reported the robbery after they got off the train at the State and Monroe station, according to police.

The downtown area in recent years has endured a number of similar incidents, sometimes referred to as "wildings."

In June 2011, Mayor Rahm Emanuel vowed to increase the police presence downtown after several people were robbed in the same area by groups of teen males in a series of separate attacks.

Seven teens were charged in June 2012 after attacking a tourist and a local man leaving the Chicago Blues Festival in Grant Park.
