10th anniversary of Meigs Field closing

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Ten years ago Saturday, Mayor Richard Daley sent bulldozers to carve up Meigs Field.

At first, the mayor said he was trying to protect Chicago from terrorists, but many believe the midnight demolition was really just so that Daley could transform the land into a park.

On Saturday, the group "Friends of Meigs Field" will hold what they're calling a memorial there.
