VILLA PARK, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two men face felony battery charges in connection with an attack that left a 26-year-old west suburban Villa Park man hospitalized earlier this month.

Alexis Cruz, 28, of Bensenville and Armando Cruz, 26, of Hanover Park were each charged with one count of aggravated battery, a Class 1 felony, according to a statement from Villa Park police.

Police were notified at about 5 a.m. on March 9 that a battery victim was being treated at Elmhurst Hospital with serious injuries to his face and head. He has since been released from the hospital.

Arrest warrants were issued for the two men after detectives learned that the victim had been involved in a fight at a residence on the 200 block of North Third Street in Villa Park. Both suspects are currently on parole with the Illinois Department of Justice.

Alexis Cruz was arrested by Villa Park police at an Addison restaurant on March 16. Armando Cruz was arrested at his place of employment on March 22. Both suspects were taken to the DuPage County Jail.
