Report: Warnings about Redflex go back 6 years

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A new report by the Tribune says there were warnings years ago about the red light camera company Redflex.

The Tribune reports that top officials of former Mayor Richard Daley's administration were warned 6 years ago about preferential treatment in the contract.

Back in 2007 executives of a competing camera company complained the city was unfairly favoring Redflex, according to internal city records obtained by the Tribune.

The Tribune also found out that Alderman Ed Burke wrote top Daley administration officials questioning the contract.

The deal is currently embroiled in a federal corruption investigation and is accused in a $2 million bribery scheme at City Hall.
